Full Job Description

Why you should join us

Tandem is a generational opportunity to rethink how we bring new therapies to market, and our path to doing so is significantly de-risked – we have:

  • Exponential organic growth: We have product-market fit and are growing rapidly. Tandem supports thousands of new patients every day, is spreading with doctors through word-of-mouth, and works with the largest biopharma companies in the world.

  • An AI-first business model: Our approach is distinctly enabled by AI, but our business gets stronger (not commoditized) as foundation models improve. We are building durability through two-sided network effects that compound over time.

  • Top tier investors: With the traction to support conviction in our model, we raised significant funding from top investors (Thrive Capital, General Catalyst, and Accel) to build an exceptional team of engineers and operators.

Our number one priority is scaling to market demand. We are looking for individuals who are high horsepower, high throughput, and hyper resourceful to help us increase capacity and grow. We move fast and need to move faster.

All full-time roles are in person in New York. You can learn more about working with us in the last section of this page.

About the role

As Chief of Staff to the CEO at Tandem, you will act as a senior operator and trusted partner in running the company. You will help translate strategy into execution, ensure the most important initiatives actually happen, and drive alignment across a rapidly scaling organization. This is a leadership seat, not a support role, with broad scope, real authority, and constant exposure to the decisions that matter most.

You will work across every major function — product, operations, growth, commercial, data, and finance — with a mandate to increase velocity, clarity, and accountability. You will help set company-wide goals, track performance, surface issues early, and step in to drive outcomes where ownership is unclear or stakes are high. You will also play a key role in fundraising, executive hiring, and major external relationships as the company scales from its current stage to its next order of magnitude.

This role is designed for someone who could run a major part of the business in the future. You will build deep context on how Tandem works end to end, develop strong instincts for what moves the needle, and increasingly operate as an extension of the CEO in driving execution across the company.

This is a demanding role, with a high level of autonomy and responsibility. You will be expected to “act like an owner” and commit yourself to Tandem’s success. If you are low-ego, hyper-organized, and excited about intense, high-trust work with a direct line to impact, we want to hear from you.

If you join, you will:

  • Help define, set, and drive company-wide goals, operating priorities, and success metrics — ensuring alignment from leadership through execution

  • Own cross-functional initiatives that are critical to the business and lack a natural home, driving them from problem definition through results

  • Act as a true thought partner to the CEO on strategy, planning, and decision-making across growth, product, operations, and org design

  • Build and maintain systems for performance tracking, metrics reporting, and ongoing visibility into how the business is actually operating

  • Ensure follow-through on key decisions by identifying ownership gaps, escalating issues early, and driving resolution across teams

  • Support fundraising, board preparation, and major external relationships with rigorous analysis, narratives, and execution support

  • Play a central role in executive hiring, performance management, and leadership effectiveness as the company scales

We’ll be most excited if you have:

  • 5–10 years of experience working in an environment that required analytical problem-solving, operational rigor, and outcome ownership (e.g., fast-growing startup, consulting, finance, a 0 -> 1 business line at a high-performing organization)

  • Technical background and/or experience working with complex data (at minimum the role requires learning SQL and low-code tools)

  • Strong written and verbal communication that allows you to be an effective participant in both internal debates and external relationships

  • Track record of moving quickly, finding shortcuts, and going to unreasonable lengths to deliver on goals

  • High NPS with your former teammates

This is a list of ideal qualifications for this position. If you don't meet every single one of them, you should still consider applying! We’re excited to work with people from underrepresented backgrounds, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
