About the role...
Come lead partnerships and business development for Duolingo in LATAM (with particular focus on Mexico and Brazil).
Partnerships are a rapidly growing function at Duolingo, with a global team based in New York and regional leadership in Europe and Asia. We are now seeking an experienced business development leader to bring a strategic, structured, and proactive approach to scaling our business in LATAM.
In this role, you will manage existing partnerships and pipeline while sourcing and developing new opportunities. You will build data-driven business cases to establish strategic partnerships that drive user growth, brand awareness, and monetization, including support for brand licensing partnerships.
As our resident expert on the region, you will demonstrate a deep understanding of the market dynamics and use your skills and network to build partnerships that are value-accretive to Duolingo and our partners. Reporting to the Global Head of Consumer Partnerships, you will collaborate with marketing, design, product, and engineering teams in the US and around the world.

- Leverage market insights and a deep understanding of the regional partnership landscape to develop and communicate an effective LATAM partnership strategy, with a focus on Mexico and Brazil
- Lead our existing partnerships and pipeline in LATAM across verticals (app stores, telcos, media and entertainment, banks, public institutions, payment providers, etc.)
- Expand Duolingo’s partnership portfolio by sourcing new opportunities with measurable impact on key business metrics
- Build compelling, quantitative business cases to support strategic partnership investments
- Negotiate and implement partnerships across user growth, brand, and monetization
- Collaborate with global and local Marketing on brand partnerships and to amplify partnership launches
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to influence product integrations critical to successful partnership execution

- 7+ years of business development experience, with a track record of successfully developing partnerships in digital consumer (B2C) technology
- Experience working in consulting, banking, or business development
- Experience in conceiving, developing, and implementing partnerships throughout their full cycles, from deal sourcing to building business cases, negotiating agreements, driving, and tracking results
- Deep cultural context and immersion in the regional landscape, and are able to use your network to launch impactful partnerships
- Ambitious spirit with a track record of achieving great results by building long-lasting external relationships, collaborating effectively with multiple internal teams to drive ideas to execution, and taking a test and scale approach
- Critical thinking skills and structured thought processes, with the ability to build and communicate compelling, data-driven narratives
- Proficient in Spanish with excellent English speaking and writing skills
- Ability to travel internationally frequently, specifically to New York City, Pittsburgh (HQ), and across LATAM
