Overview
As part of the Business Control team, we are looking for a highly technical Associate with deep expertise in SQL and data pipelining. This role is for someone who thrives on writing complex queries and building robust data models from scratch, turning raw business data into automated, reliable control frameworks. You will own complex and impactful projects, working directly within our data warehouse (Snowflake) to ensure data integrity and build the foundations of our business controls.
Responsibilities:
Data Control Pipeline Development: Take primary ownership of building and maintaining business control data pipelines from scratch. This involves writing complex, highly performant SQL queries in Snowflake to ingest, transform, and validate massive datasets.
Complex SQL Querying: Design, build, and optimize complex queries to analyze extensive datasets, identify anomalies, and extract trends. Your SQL skills will be the primary tool used to build and automate our control frameworks.
Control Framework Implementation: Translate business logic and control requirements into automated, scalable data models and tests within our data environment.
KPI & Data Model Creation: Develop, productionalize, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) by building the underlying data models in Snowflake that feed into our BI tools (Looker, PowerBI) and FP&A models.
Process Monitoring & Adaptation: Proactively monitor product and feature releases, analyzing their impact on data streams, and adapting your SQL-based control pipelines and frameworks accordingly.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, and then translate those needs into technical requirements and data-driven solutions. You will be expected to present the findings from your data investigations.
Documentation: Document your data models, control processes, and pipeline logic to ensure clarity and maintainability.
Qualifications:
Professional Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in a data-heavy role such as Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or Data Engineering.
Core Technical Skills:
Expert-level proficiency in SQL is mandatory. You must have demonstrated experience writing highly complex queries (e.g., complex joins, window functions, CTEs, stored procedures) for data transformation and analysis.
Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse, specifically Snowflake, is strongly required.
BI Tools: Strong knowledge of BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI) for visualizing and surfacing the control data you have built.
Analytical Mindset: Very strong analytical skills with a willingness to deep-dive into large, complex datasets to find the root cause of issues.
Financial/Business Knowledge (Preferred):
Familiarity with financial controlling, SaaS metrics, or general accounting/revenue concepts is a strong plus but is not mandatory.
A willingness to learn the business and financial domain is essential.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to explain complex technical data investigations to various stakeholders.
Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Data, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
