Help raise the bar on Fruitist’s quality from field to fridge. You’ll co-own the Quality System for blueberries, table grapes, asparagus, and other crops—standardizing processes, safeguarding compliance, and driving continuous improvement across farming, packing, logistics, and export operations. This is a hands-on role that blends technical rigor with strong cross-functional leadership.

Location: Olmos, Peru (note: this role is based on our flagship farm in Olmos, and requires on-site work Monday-Friday).

What You’ll Do

  • Quality System & Standards

  • Define and maintain crop-specific quality standards aligned to customer and market requirements.

  • Standardize evaluation criteria and SOPs to ensure objectivity, traceability, and consistency across sites and partners.

  • Verification, Monitoring & Issue Prevention

  • Establish quality verification procedures per crop and stage (field, harvest, packing, cold chain, destination).

  • Monitor seasonal quality performance at origin and destination; investigate variances and prevent complaints or rejections.

  • Cross-Functional Compliance & Post-Harvest Execution

  • Direct adherence to Quality and Post-Harvest procedures across Production, Packing, Commercial, Comex, Logistics, Property Security, and R&D units—plus co-packers and third-party producers.

  • Provide technical support to export chain stakeholders and parallel support areas (e.g., Internal Audit, Continuous Improvement, OSH, Asset Security, Commercial Platforms, regulatory bodies) to ensure standards are met.

  • Security Protocols & BASC

  • Verify compliance with BASC protocol in critical areas (Material QC and Dispatch QC) to protect product integrity and process security within the export chain.

  • Budgeting, Vendors & Materials Validation

  • Prepare seasonal quality budgets by crop and market; meet providers to evaluate technology options and negotiate fair pricing with Comex and Logistics.

  • Establish guidelines to validate new suppliers of packaging materials/inputs; approve reception/use once requirements are met.

  • Continuous Improvement, Trials & Innovation

  • Identify process, packaging, and post-harvest technology opportunities; run trials to improve quality and reduce losses.

  • Update and socialize quality standards following validated improvements.

  • Process Control & Team Leadership

  • Oversee Process Control and Packing Quality activities; ensure effective coordination with sub-area leads.

  • Convene weekly/biweekly quality committees; track BU-requested actions to completion.

  • Data, Reporting & Systems

  • Ensure accurate, timely data capture; contribute to master databases, dashboards (e.g., Power BI), and quality software.

  • Issue reports per procedure and schedule; plan on-time delivery of quality information to all requestors.

  • People & Administration

  • Provide administrative support for the team (scheduling, time/attendance, vacation approvals, labor budgets) and ensure availability of instruments/equipment.

What You’ll Bring

  • 4–7 years in quality or post-harvest roles within produce/agribusiness (berries, grapes, asparagus, or similar fresh categories).

  • Strong command of crop quality specs, post-harvest physiology, cold chain, packaging materials, and export documentation flows.

  • Proven experience implementing SOPs, audits, and supplier/third-party oversight; familiarity with BASC or equivalent protocols.

  • Analytical mindset with hands-on skill in data capture, root-cause analysis, trial design, and KPI reporting (e.g., Power BI).

  • Cross-functional collaboration skills across Production, Packing, Logistics/Comex, Sales/Commercial, and QA/Regulatory.

  • Organized, detail-driven, and effective communicator; able to train teams and drive adherence at pace.

  • Technical/engineering, agronomy, food science, or related degree preferred; willingness to travel to farms, packhouses, and ports.
